The x-ray machine has been delivered to Tanzania and by all reports has been plugged in and is getting used. We are trying to get some photos to confirm!
The Project SEARCH grant application is nearly complete.  If approved, we will be spending some time this summer shopping, delivering, and installing classroom equipment. We will also be helping project SEARCH interns one-on-one with some of their activities.
District 5580 is providing a $400 technology grant to clubs.  Jon Winter will be assembling a budget for us.
CLUB 40 members joined us at Moonrise on February 23.  They have decided that the 2021 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival will be cancelled.  They do want to keep that Saturday available as a community fun day for Rotary and other local organizations.  Details will be coming if we want to participate.
ANOTHER OPTION... for a fun summer day would be to get involved with the Superior Fourth of July Festival.  Put a float in the parade and pass out Rotary stickers to kids?  Or masks? How about a stand on Tower Avenue to give out temporary tatoos and books to kids attending the car show?  Not only could we do some public service, we could use it as an opportunity to promote our golf tournament and night of fun.
GOLF TOURNAMENT is September 10, 2021.  The current work involves gathering corporate sponsors.  Jeff Dorfman has already secured $2500.  Who can beat him by March 9?
Sponsorship level brochures and information will be coming soon; hopefully by next week's meeting. Kirk is gathering printing costs for them.  The plan remains to have an after-golf event at Dodgies East End Tavern that will be open to all Rotarians and the general public.  We will use this as the opportunity to raise money through auctions, raffles, etc.
CLUB GARDEN doesn't really need any work right now, but start thinking about a clean up day in March.  If temps stay warm enough and snow stays away, we can finish picking up extension cords from the winter.  If anyone has ideas for a spring touch to the garden or sign, please share!
Randy Wichlidal has joined the club!  He has been a local business owner for decades, is moving into retirement, and wants to help out.
DISTRICT 5580 is encouraging membership growth by paying each club $100 per new member from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.  As we continue to gather sponsors for our golf tournament, we should also encourage businesses and individuals to join our club.
will be all virtual this year April 26- May 1.  The format has sessions from noon each day into the evenings.  The conference agenda can be found HERE.  The registration page didn't work when I tried it so I have no idea if or how much they are charging.
